Applicants for this prestigious award must possess superior teaching skills and outstanding leadership qualities. They must also have demonstrated distinguished performance through his/her accomplishments and a real devotion to the advancement of Canadian aviation safety. In particular, applicants will:
- Show interest and enthusiasm for teaching and for the promotion of student learning in a safe and challenging environment, evoking a true passion for flight.
- Demonstrate an ability to plan, design and organize course material while presenting it cogently and imaginatively.
- Have a superior command of the subject matter, including the incorporation of recent developments in the field of flight training.
- Demonstrate a professional and systematic approach to teaching development.
- Participate in professional activities related to flight training.
- Instill an attitude of safety by developing procedures and structures to incorporate safety goals into every aspect of training.
- Have accomplished noteworthy achievements in enhancing aviation safety through pilot education and the advancement of professional standards, constantly upgrading an already impressive record.
- Develop significant technical support skills in the field of flight instruction.
